A rich and big Spanish red showing black fruit flavours and mineral notes.
The tiger-striped Ilicorella soils of this isolated Catalonian enclave have
supported vines since the 12th century. Here Garnacha, Cariñena and Syrah bush vines are hand-harvested from steep terraces and fermented slowly prior to a languorous stint in oak. Powerful and persistent with notes of blackberry, chocolate and liquorice.
In the press:
"With delightful blackcurrant and blackberry flavours as a base, the wine has a rich, faintly bitter chocolate taste to it, with a hint of herby menthol or liquorice. A blend of Garnacha, Cariñena and Syrah, it's given a mild overlay of spice and vanilla by oak-ageing, and is just about ready to drink now."
